With modern-day technology, lasers are capable of cutting at just over a nanometre, meaning that laser cutting is the most accurate of cutting and engraving methods.

Maximum Thickness Cutting with a Laser

The maximum thickness that can be cut with a laser depends on various factors, including the type of laser, the material being cut, and the laser power. Here are some general guidelines for maximum cutting thickness for common materials:

  • Fiber lasers: Typically, fiber lasers can cut stainless steel up to around 30mm (1.18 inches) thick, aluminum up to around 25mm (0.98 inches) thick, and mild steel up to around 25mm (0.98 inches) thick. However, higher-powered fiber lasers can achieve greater thicknesses.
